Fleet Week - Day 1

We took the girls on a tour of the USS Bataan, one of the largest amphibious assault ships, which is docked not far from our apartment for Fleet Week. There was a huge crowd, and level of security to get on the ship was similar to what you would experience at the airport. The only difference was that the service men and women were friendly, efficient and clearly very competent. After a Marine reviewed our identification, he joked with the girls and gave them high-fives. I commented that while the service men and women were friendly and respectful, I also felt like they were much more thorough than the TSA is during airport searches (yet, we didn't feel molested). And the line at the ship moved much, much quicker than a security line at the airport. Our takeaway is that maybe the U.S. military should give lessons to the TSA.
