Day 51 - A decade down and a lifetime to go!

Last night husband and I celebrated our 10th year wedding anniversary. We had the most amazing dinner at Club A Steakhouse. It was the best dinner I have ever had! We then went to see one of my favorite shows, Les Miserables.   It was a night to remember!

Day 49 - 10 years.....

Today is a big day.  Husband and I married 10 years ago in an adorable 1901 country church surrounded by friends and family (many of whom traveled far to brave the Texas summer heat!). I never would have imagined that we would now be living in NYC with two wonderful little girls. Thank you for all that you do for us. Every day I love you more.

I don't think we look ten years older.....

Day 47 - Heat Wave and #BroadwayinBryantPark

Despite the awful heat Katie and I spent our lunch time enjoying Broadway in Bryant Park.  This is our 6th year doing this and I think this is the hottest it has ever been.

Day 46 - Love

Every time these two go a few hours without seeing one another the following happens.  They run into each others arm and say "I missed you" and "I love you."  They truly are best friends.

Day 45 - Cooling off!

I am so thankful we live across the street from such a great park.  Since we are still dealing with this awful heat wave the girls talked me into letting them go and play in the water.  They LOVE this water.  This is the sprinkler where Katie first learned to walk.  Memories.    (And now Cats is in my head).

Day 44 - Never to hot for hugs!

We are in the middle of an awful heat wave in NYC.  The girls are not fans.  In fact, when we are out walking in the heat, they are usually silent!  (Otherwise they are nonstop chatterboxes and singers, I really need to record Lizzie's version of singing opera).  As soon as we hit the air conditioned building the girls pepped right back up!

Day 43 - Signs we are getting old....

Daddy picked Elizabeth up, and they had this conversation:

"Daddy, I love you! Daddy, there is something on your eye."

"What's on my eye?"

"Wrinkles. I love you, Daddy!"

At least she couches it in love.

Day 41- HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADDY!!!!!

Today is a really big deal in our family.... It is Daddy's birthday.  The girls seriously have the best father.  They are so blessed.  Thank you for everything that you do for us.  We love you so much (or as Katie says ) to the moon and back!  Happy Birthday!!!!

Day 40- The Haircut

A few people have asked to see the haircut....  I had probably a foot of hair chopped off.  It had been years since I have had a professional cut.  I have had my mom trim it a few times and I have done it myself as well (thankfully my hair is curly so if I don't cut it straight, it isn't that noticeable).  It is amazing how much lighter my head feels!

Day 38 - Climbing...

This is the closest I am going to let Elizabeth get to climbing trees.  While Katie enjoyed some time at a friend's birthday party this evening, Elizabeth spent the time playing at a park on the UWS.  She LOVED it.  Going to a new park makes this the "best day ever!"  She is easy to please.

Day 37- Katie's Favorite Place

Katie's favorite place to go?   Daddy's Office.  She can sit and write stories and do "work" for hours if we would let her.

Day 36 - Elizabeth's Shades

Elizabeth LOVES to wear sunglasses.  There is nothing worse than having the sun in her eyes.

Day 35 - Macy's Big Piano?

Now that FAO Schwartz is gone from NYC, the Big Piano has moved to Macy's.  It is actually kind of sad.  At FAO the Big Piano was treated with such care.  Only a few kids were allowed at one time, shoes had to be removed, employees guarded it!  At Macy's it is essentially a walkway that anyone can walk on... with shoes...strollers etc.  It has only been at Macy's a month and it already looks so beat up.

Day 34 - That's a Wrap!

It was a wonderful week at VBS.  Katie and Elizabeth had so much fun.  I was fortunate enough to volunteer all week and help out in many different areas.   Elizabeth's favorite part was the music.  Katie loved "making new friends."  I feel so blessed that they get to have these amazing experiences.

Day 33- Walking

Sometimes I just love to stand back and watch the two girls together.  My favorite is when they are walking, holding hands and talking about life.  They have the best conversations.

Day 32- VBS Week

It is our annual Vacation Bible School week at church.  This is the first year that Elizabeth is old enough to do the full program.  She is beyond excited.  The theme this year is Cave Quest.

Day 31- Eat More Chicken

So yesterday it was the free slurpee and today it is free Chick-fil-A.  If you show up at Chick-fil-A dressed like a cow then they will give you a free entrée.  The girls had fun making their own masks, cutting out the spots and taping them to their clothes.  I think Elizabeth mooed all the way to Chick-fil-A.  Goodness I forgot how much I liked Chick-fil-A sandwiches.

Day 30- 7-11 Slurpee Time!

In honor of it being 7-11 (the date), 7-11 is giving out free slurpees.  The girls thought this was amazing!!!

Day 29 - Katie's Braids

Last week I went and had my hair cut (I probably cut at least a foot of hair off!).  Katie accompanied me on the occasion and since she was doing such a great a job a stylist offered to braid her hair.  Katie thought it was so much fun and it turned out so cute.  If only it had lasted longer than 10 minutes!

Day 28 - AMNH

We went back to the American Museum of Natural History.  Our first stop was the Discovery Room.  The girls LOVED it!  They had fun searching for animals and bugs on a giant tree, seeing real hissing cockroaches (I stayed back for that one -yuck!), excavating fossils and putting together a crocodile skeleton.  It was another fun day at the museum!

Day 27 - Pizza Chicago Style

Yes.  We are New Yorkers and we LOVE the NY pie.  That being said, we are also fans of Chicago Deep Dish.    I know some New Yorkers may taunt us over this nugget of information but we must confess.  After the museum on Saturday, husband surprised us with lunch at Chicago Uno Pizzeria.  So good!

Day 22 - American Museum of Natural History

Daddy surprised the girls with a morning at the American Museum of Natural History.  The girls thought it was pretty neat to pose with a statue of Theodore Roosevelt.

Have a safe and happy 4th of July Weekend!

Day 20 - Throwback to end of last summer

Katie was fortunate enough to end last summer by attending her first Broadway show with her classmates.  Thankfully, I, Mommy, was able to tag along and chaperone.  We saw the final week of On the Town.  Katie absolutely loved it but I don't think her true love of Broadway hit until she saw Matilda with her Dad.
