Day 19 - Elizabeth Loves her chocolate

Daddy thought he would surprise Elizabeth with a giant chocolate kiss. She thought it was "AMAZING!"  She was gracious enough to share with everyone!

Day 17 - Last day of First Grade!

How.   How do we have a little girl going into 2nd grade?  Please tell me where the last 6.5 years have gone?  I am blown away that we are already to this point in our lives.  2nd Grade just seems so old.

Day 16 - Too cool!

Katie rarely wears sunglasses because she prefers to wear her regular glasses.  However, yesterday was just so sunny and bright that sunglasses were a necessity.

Day 15 - Subway ride fun

Taken this morning on our way to church.  These two truly are best friends.  They chatted, sang and played games (patty cake) the whole way to church.  I love when they entertain each other.

Day 14 - Community Block Party

At a community fair, Elizabeth could have picked anything to have painted on her face. She passed over the hearts, butterflies and princesses and immediately chose a basketball. Husband and I love that Katie and Elizabeth are so different.  What did Katie pick?  A pink heart.

Day 13 - Matilda the Musical

A couple months ago Husband received tickets for the Broadway show Matilda.  He suggested that the two of us go together but babysitters are expensive, babysitters are hard to get and Katie has really been wanting to go see another Broadway show.  We have been talking about the idea of Husband taking Katie to go see a show for a special "daddy-daughter" date and this seemed like the perfect opportunity!  (How can you beat free tickets?).  That night was life changing for Katie.  She was amazed at watching kids, not much older than her, sing and dance.  Even Husband was blown away watching a young girl command the stage the way that night's Matilda did.  I think Katie has now seen every YouTube video on Matilda and has been requesting to go see it again for her birthday.  Unfortunately the show will be closing January 1st so if you want to see, get  your tickets now!

Day 11 - Katie's First Dance Recital

Katie has her first dance recital earlier this year.  She took a semester of tap and loved it.  Their performance was to Mr.
Sandman and it was so cute!

Day 10 - Elizabeth's 4th Birthday

I have to go back and post a few pictures from some days that were missed.  Most notably would be Elizabeth's 4th birthday.  I am not sure how our baby grew up so fast.  She is such a fun and loving little girl.  I love her spunk and her heart.  Every day she is making us laugh.  Our family wouldn't be complete without her.  We love you Elizabeth

Day 9 - Field Day

Last week Katie had her field day at school.  The entire school went to a local park and spent the day playing games, relay races, jump rope, picnic etc.  It was an amazing time.  Katie loved it.  The day ended in a kickball game of the graduating 5th graders verses the teachers.
Potato Sack Race

Katie actually decided that it would be easier to jump with the balloon between her legs instead of run.  Surprisingly, she did go a lot faster by jumping!

After lunch the kids were able to pick one of their favorite activities to do. Katie's biggest accomplishment this year has been learning to jump rope.  She loves it and is quite good!  The girl on her left has been a good friend these past two years.  The girl on the right is the older sister of a boy in her class.  This older sister has become a great friend to Katie.  Katie thinks it is pretty cool to have a friend in 3rd grade (almost 4th).

Day 8 - Father's Day!

These two little girls are so incredibly blessed to have the father that they do.  He is amazing.  We love him so much and are thankful for him beyond words.  Husband, Daddy, thank you so much for all that you do.  We love you!!!

Day 7 - Family laughter

This is an older picture (taken for our holiday cards that actually never happened this year - long story), but it is still one of my favorites.  There is never a dull moment in our family.

Day 5 - Goodbye Preschool

Elizabeth had her last day of Preschool today.  She actually gets to go for a few weeks during the summer to help her continue working on her speech but today is the actual last day of preschool.  Next year she will be joining her big sister.  It is a bitter sweet moment.  I am so excited about having them at the same school next year.  It will be life changing for our family but in the same beat, we love her preschool.  It is the same school that Katie did UPK.  It has been a part of a our family for 2 years now and we are going to miss them tremendously.  I could not have asked for a more welcoming and loving place for our girls to begin their educational journeys.

Day 4 - Mother-Daughter

A rare one of me...  The girls and I visited Husband in his office.  As much as she is a mini version of her daddy, we share so many of the same loves - singing, music, theater...  I am so blessed.

Day 3 - New Glasses

This past April the girls became proud owners of new glasses.  Katie decided on purple (they didn't have pink) and Elizabeth picked Mickey Mouse.

Day 2 - Elizabeth's School Picture

It is normal to receive your school picture in the middle of June, you know, the last week of school -right?

Fleet Week - Day 1

We took the girls on a tour of the USS Bataan, one of the largest amphibious assault ships, which is docked not far from our apartment for Fleet Week. There was a huge crowd, and level of security to get on the ship was similar to what you would experience at the airport. The only difference was that the service men and women were friendly, efficient and clearly very competent. After a Marine reviewed our identification, he joked with the girls and gave them high-fives. I commented that while the service men and women were friendly and respectful, I also felt like they were much more thorough than the TSA is during airport searches (yet, we didn't feel molested). And the line at the ship moved much, much quicker than a security line at the airport. Our takeaway is that maybe the U.S. military should give lessons to the TSA.

Starting Anew - 100 Days of Summer

It has been almost a year since we posted on this blog but I don't want to say we are done with this.  It started as a way to communicate our adventures in NYC and as we have made NY our home, this blog has chronicled our journey.  In hopes of posting more I am going to start 100 days of summer and try to post for 100 straight days.  If I do it for 100 days then maybe it will become a habit once again.  For now, here is a picture of the girls taken earlier this week.  I am so thankful that the majority of the time they get along.  They truly are best friends.

I saw this quote earlier this week and it made me think of Katie and Elizabeth.  "Sisters... You and I are sisters. Always remember that if you fall I will pick you up...As soon as I stop laughing."
