Daddy made this picture more appropriate.

Things Katie Likes: Balloons

This afternoon, out family stopped for lunch. We got a family special that included chicken soup, BBQ chicken, and cornbread. We gave Katie some of the chicken and vegetables out of the soup - she loved it. But I digress. Our waiter brought Katie a balloon. Up to this point in her life, Katie had never had a balloon, so I wasn't too sure how she would respond. She loved it! She sat in her chair holding the balloon string waiving it around and singing softly to the balloon throughout lunch. Katie playing with her balloon has been added to my list of the cutest things I have ever seen.

My Wife is Going to Get Us Killed

This afternoon at the Bronx Zoo, we passed some big guy wearing a Celtics jersey. As we passed him, Wife began to chant, "Kobe! Kobe! Kobe!" To say that she's happy about our team's victory this past week is a huge understatement.

About time you came to get me.

Some People's Parents

Today, our little family took a trip to the Bronx Zoo (more on that later, maybe). On the subway trip to the Bronx, a woman with a little boy that was about two or three years old plopped next to me. Katie was happy about these newcomers since she LOVES looking at other children.

The little boy was bored and wanted something to do. So, his mom hands him her brand new smart phone. The little kid enjoyed pressing the touch screen to watch different things light up. After a minute or two, the little boy did exactly what you would expect him to do - he threw the brand new smart phone onto the subway floor (hard).

The kid's mom realizes that maybe her new phone isn't a great toy. So, what do you think this mother did? I'm not making this up. She takes the back off the phone, pulls out the battery, and hands the kid the phone battery to play with. The kid instantly sticks the battery in his mouth. The guy across the aisle from us jumped up and exclaimed, "Ma'am, I don't think he should play with that. There's radiation and stuff that comes out of that." The mom seemed shocked that eating a battery wasn't a good idea, but she took it away from him.

The kid, extremely upset that his teething toy was taken away from him, started to scream. To shut him up, the the mother reaches into her purse and hands her toddler - really, I'm not making this up - all of her credit cards. The little boy and his mother got off the subway at the next stop. After they got off the train, I turned around to see the exasperated mother was trying to gather up all of her credit cards that her son threw on the ground as soon as they got off the train. Who knew he would throw stuff on the ground?

How has this poor kid survived 2 or 3 years of life already?

Well, sure, I could get in, but it's a lot more fun this way.

Congratulations to the Los Angeles Lakers!

Just a quick post to say that I am so incredibly happy tonight. I said from the beginning it was going to be Lakers in 7. For the majority of the game I was scared and Husband was frustrated. But, I still believed that they would pull through and THEY DID!!!

Who would have thought that Artest would be such a huge factor in our win? This series was amazing because it wasn't just a "Kobe show" but throughout each game everyone showed up at one point or another.

Next year should be interesting. My hope is that we have Fish and Phil back again. For now I won't worry about that, but instead just enjoy another victory. Winning is awesome but beating Boston is so much sweeter.

And to answer your questions.... yes. Katie was able to stay up and watch the game. She enjoyed the final minutes while eating her puffs. Puffs make stressful situations so much better.

You're right, Daddy. I do like BBQ. Even this menu is delicious.

Katie Likes BBQ. A Lot.

Today, Wife and I had BBQ for the first time in a long time. I shared my beef brisket with Katie and she liked it. A lot. I only shared six or seven bites with her (and each bite was about the quarter of the size of a fingernail). We were thinking that Katie wasn't much of a fan of meat, but maybe her animosity towards meat is just because ground up chicken breast is completely disgusting.
