Walking Elizabeth to Church

This morning, Wife and Katie left for church early because Katie was volunteering as an usher.  So, Elizabeth and I left a little bit later than the two of them.  Wife and Katie took the subway, and then Elizabeth and I had more time so we walked.

When it was time for Elizabeth and me to leave, I asked Elizabeth, "Do you have everything."

Without missing a beat, Elizabeth looked down and said, "Yup, I've got my dress," and she walked out the door. Oh, to be a little kid again.

The girls enjoy walking to church with me because I tell them stories.  Elizabeth and I walked to church hand-in-hand, and I told her stories about my life growing up.

As we were approaching a major intersection, I was trying to decide which way we should go.  The light at the cross walk was about to turn green, so I said to Elizabeth, "Let's cross here."

Immediately, Elizabeth let go of my hand, crossed her legs, and held out here arms perpendicular to her body.

I bark at Elizabeth, "Come on, let's cross!"

"Dad, I am being a cross right here.  You said, 'Let's cross here,' so I'm being a cross here.  You did NOT say let's cross the street.  If that's what you mean, you really should say it.  I"m not a mind reader, Dad."
