Some People's Parents

Today, our little family took a trip to the Bronx Zoo (more on that later, maybe). On the subway trip to the Bronx, a woman with a little boy that was about two or three years old plopped next to me. Katie was happy about these newcomers since she LOVES looking at other children.

The little boy was bored and wanted something to do. So, his mom hands him her brand new smart phone. The little kid enjoyed pressing the touch screen to watch different things light up. After a minute or two, the little boy did exactly what you would expect him to do - he threw the brand new smart phone onto the subway floor (hard).

The kid's mom realizes that maybe her new phone isn't a great toy. So, what do you think this mother did? I'm not making this up. She takes the back off the phone, pulls out the battery, and hands the kid the phone battery to play with. The kid instantly sticks the battery in his mouth. The guy across the aisle from us jumped up and exclaimed, "Ma'am, I don't think he should play with that. There's radiation and stuff that comes out of that." The mom seemed shocked that eating a battery wasn't a good idea, but she took it away from him.

The kid, extremely upset that his teething toy was taken away from him, started to scream. To shut him up, the the mother reaches into her purse and hands her toddler - really, I'm not making this up - all of her credit cards. The little boy and his mother got off the subway at the next stop. After they got off the train, I turned around to see the exasperated mother was trying to gather up all of her credit cards that her son threw on the ground as soon as they got off the train. Who knew he would throw stuff on the ground?

How has this poor kid survived 2 or 3 years of life already?
