Observations with Respect to the NYC Marathon

This afternoon, we spent time in Central Park near the finish line for the NYC marathon. Here are a few random observations.
  • There are a LOT of people there.
  • I didn't realize until today that the marathon route goes through all five boroughs.
  • The international atmosphere felt like what I expect being at the Olympics would be like (though there is generally more of a spirit of teamwork than competition).
  • Most runners looked shockingly good after completing the race.
  • At times, it's hard to tell if this is a race with a lot of music or a music festival with a race associated with the concerts.
